Youth STEM 2030 Accredited as Real Living Wage Employer
We’re excited to announce that Youth STEM 2030 is officially a Real Living Wage employer!
Ever since our first staff member joined our team in December 2021, we’ve always paid all of our team at least the Real Living Wage - the only UK wage rate based on the cost of living, which is voluntarily paid by over 14,000 UK businesses - but now being officially accredited by Living Wage Foundation signifies a significant step forward in our commitment to fair working practices and our advocacy for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Real Living Wage accreditation is more than just a certification; it is a testament to our values-driven approach. It ensures that all employees, including part-time and contracted staff, receive a wage that meets the cost of living, valuing all of the hard work by our Core Team of staff and interns, and reflecting our commitment to social responsibility and ethical employment practices.
On achieving the Real Living Wage accreditation, and the impact this has on our young workforce, Youth STEM 2030 Founder & CEO Mhairi McCann said:
“Young people make up the majority of Youth STEM 2030’s workforce, but nationwide are most acutely impacted by wage inequalities and low-paid work. We’re proud to be going against that trend, breaking down barriers to foster a more equitable workforce and setting an example for other social enterprises and organisations in STEM & sustainability to pay wages which reflect the cost of living”
