Founder & CEO Elected to Steering Group of SDG Network Scotland
Youth STEM 2030’s Founder and CEO, Mhairi McCann, has been elected as one of ten members of the SDG Network Scotland’s Steering Group 2020-22.
The role will see Mhairi giving strategic direction and support to the SDG Network Scotland, a coalition of more than 600 people and organisations. Made up of a broad mix of figures from the voluntary and private sectors, academia, and other leading bodies, the Steering Group will now oversee and facilitate collaborative action towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Scotland.
On being elected to the Steering Group, Mhairi said:
“I’m delighted to have been elected, alongside 9 others, by the SDG Network Scotland as a member of the Steering Group. It provides a real opportunity to work with people from a wide range of sectors and backgrounds to advance progress towards the SDGs.”
The new Steering Group will build on the success of last summer's SDGs progress review as it looks to support Scotland's efforts to be a world leader in sustainable development. On her ambitions as part of the Steering Group, Mhairi added:
“I want to use my existing experience in the SDGs to create a more inclusive and sustainable Scotland, which leads the way in realising the SDGs. I’m keen to ensure that voices in the wider Network are heard, especially those of young people and seldom heard groups.”
